Portrait of Emily Davis

In addition to a busy schedule of performing, touring and recording with the Philharmonia, Emily is also in demand as a Guest Principal elsewhere, working with the BBC Symphony, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Royal Northern Sinfonia.

Prior to her appointment with the Philharmonia in 2004, Emily spent four years as Co-Principal Second Violin with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. A highlight of this job was Highland Tours, where the orchestra travelled around rural Scotland playing to very small but highly appreciative audiences. In fact, Emily still has a handwritten letter from a six year old girl who came to one of these concerts, inviting her to tea at her house!

Emily lives in a small village in Buckinghamshire with her husband and two children.

The No. 2 Second Violin Chair is endowed by Nick and Camilla Bishop.
