Timothy Rundle Principal Oboe

Timothy was born in Rugby in 1981 and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music embarking on a successful freelance career while still a student there.  In 2005 he was appointed Co-Principal Oboe with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and enjoyed six years living in Glasgow before moving to London.

As well as playing with the Philharmonia, Timothy enjoys playing as a guest principal oboe with many of the country’s orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and The Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields.

He is a professor of oboe at the Guildhall school of music and drama and teaches reed making at the Royal Academy of Music.

Timothy lives in Kent with his wife and two boys and enjoys the contrast that living in the countryside brings alongside the exciting and fast-paced life of performing with the Philharmonia.
