Principal Clarinet

Carlos joins the Philharmonia from the Orchestre National de Lille, where he is Principal Clarinet. Previously, he played E flat Clarinet / Second Clarinet in the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, and has also performed as Principal Clarinet in the Orchestre National de France.

Carlos completed his bachelor’s degree in 2014 at the Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo in the class of Nuno Pinto, then completed a postgraduate degree at Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, where he studied with Michel Arrignon and Enrique Pérez Piquer. In September 2019, he began studies with Florent Héau, completing a Masters in Soloist Performance at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne.

As a soloist, Carlos has performed with Orquestra Sinfónica ESMAE, Orquesta Sinfónica Freixenet, Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, Münchener Kammerorchester and Münchner Rundfunkorchester. He has performed all over the world in countries such as Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Monaco, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, England, Germany, Greece, Romania, United Kingdom and China.

Carlos has won a number of awards including third prize at the prestigious Concours de Genève, and also Second Prize, BR-Klassik OnlinePreis and Henle Verlag Prize at the ARD Musikwettbewerb 2019. He also won special prizes including the Public Prize, Young Public Prize and Students Prize. His performances in the competition have more than 50.000 views on YouTube.
